On the side of authors, please, PLEASE do not use any AI tools when writing your articles.

It’s actually very easy to get into Q3-Q4 with absolute crap, and let’s just respect each other - not to mention keep your reputation :)

I know it’s tedious and I don’t like sitting at 4am writing articles, either, but yeah - it’s important :D

That’s not to say journals shouldn’t do a better job.

The conclusion doesn’t follow the study.

Threatening messages decrease piracy by women by over 50%, while increasing piracy by men by 18%.

So, unless there are three times as many male pirates as female, those messages are effective at reducing piracy.

You know some fuckery is happening when developers strip you of basic functionality (like, literally, creating another character??) and then give you an option to restore that functionality for real money, irrespective of whether this can be achieved in game.

This makes it more acceptable to implement such practices in the future, and to either make it microtransaction-only or to enable insane levels of grind going forward to stimulate players to take an easy route…with cash.

That’s not to mention that singleplayer/co-op games should never have microtransactions in the first place. You bought it, you are free to enjoy it whichever way you like. Yes, even “ruining your game with OP stuff” and cheating. Whatever strikes your fancy.

As a young scientist who’s yet to gain PhD:

Absolutely do challenge scientists, no matter your qualification. Sometimes (granted, that’s rare) you might be right.

Just do it in a respectful way and make sure you check your arguments.

Also, while scientists are generally more educated overall, they can absolutely be foolish in what falls outside their scope. “I’m a scientist” is not a valid argument.

And yes, always check for a conflict of interest.

If we follow through with it, I would absolutely never ever trust anyone from the US, for example. US is very much known for cyber espionage and shady operations, and could absolutely backdoor Linux.

This is all power play, and it comes from a very certain direction amidst this political struggle.

You want your open source code not to have backdoors? Review it meticulously. This is really the only way, and the one an entire open-source community relies on - pretty successfully, by the way.

This is such a clickbait, and it backfired.

The actual point conveyed in the article is that world hunger is beneficial for the rich as it allows to operate sweatshops and employ people under tyrannical conditions over low pay, which is not far from modern slavery. Which is super bad for everyone else, hence world hunger must be stopped and rich should get the taste of their own medicine.

But people did react to the headline, and possibly rightfully so.
