I think Vaush is generally fine, but one thing he did that stuck out to me as odd is he made a video defending himself from being cancelled a while back and apparently he said something about how his life would be easier if a trans person killed themself or something to that effect, which I think is pretty damn indefensible. He wrote it of as a joke, but I think failing to see how that would look to a trans person is sus. Imagine a trans person seeing one of the very people supposed to be on your side “jokingly” say something l like that which many, many people believe in full ernesty.

I know he is smart enough to understand that, but he took a very bro-y, Joe Rogan-esque stance on it.

Again, generally he’s fine. Critical support and all that.

Been getting into Revocation lately. Insanely good technical death metal band. So far have just listened to their album The Outer Ones and it is a banger.

Also been listening to the new Protest the Hero and Haken albums. Protest the Hero, having punk roots, is pretty left in their politics. All Hands, my favorite off the new album, is about the Boston Molasses Flood. It focuses on the injustice represented by the event considering a lot of victims were there to earn a living, but their lives were not valued enough for safety precautions to be followed. One of the really cool lines that exemplifies that is “I can see my train is coming in and at the last second, it crashes into me”.

Haken’s new album is really fucking good. They’re essentially a modern version of Dream Theater if you’ve never heard them. Pretty hard-hitting, but catchy metal with tons of technical prowess and enough complexity to reward you for many listens.

Also listening to the new Oliver Tree album. It’s a super catchy one and puts me in a good head space. He’s essentially a modern version of early 2000s indie with some heavy electronic elements at times. Really catchy vocals too.

I just checked out the new Gojira single as well and it fucking slaps.

Pain of Salvation is a great one too. And they have a new album coming soon.

Protest the Hero is a must mention as they are pretty left in their lyrics.

Destrage also has a really cool song called “Hey, Stranger!” that is about open borders.

Caligula’s Horse is one of the best acts in metal right now. Check out Marigold, Graves, Dream the Dead, and Water’s Edge

Have you tried low fantasy? It’s less fantastical, but usually still in a similar setting.

I’d also recommend The Lies of Locke Lamorra. It’s not quite low fantasy, but it’s really different from the typical stuff like Stormlight.

Honestly think this is it. People are fatigued from having to care about real shit so they just want it to go away

Sounds crazy, but it’s true. All you gotta do is season those fuckers and roast them with some vegetables in your oven. Cook up some rice or another carb/grain and you have an entire dinner and it’s easy to make enough for a few meals throughout the week too

The only time I deal with it is when I’m making wings myself, in which case, I don’t bread them. Just season a bit, bake, then throw them in the sauce and let them rest a bit.
