China is so incredibly leftist that they even manage to make their dunks 15 fucking paragraphs. Honestly who can doubt their commitment to marxism in the face of such overwhelming density of text.
I know a lot of people who are like this, and met most of them while studying law at university. Tried to join a local org that ostensibly wanted to use volunteers to help some marginalized communities, and like 90% just wanted to turn the place into a book-club that occassionally held seminars for trans people about their rights. All I could think of while listening to them was “if I was 15% more charismatic, I could coup this place in a month”. Because the desire to do good was definitely there, but people were incredibly afraid of doing anything that might get them in trouble, and I think the same is true for the trust fund baby you had an encounter with.
Any headline that talks about “may spend X years in prison” is useless. It just takes the maximum amount of time you can get under the criminal code and makes it sound like everyone gets that.
His comments make perfect sense in the age of Capeshit. The stuff he talks about is superhero garbage, and also why people are getting sick and tired of the sameness of it all. So, like any other good capitalist, who can never accept doing something just because, and need the profit motive to do anything, he figures that he needs to appeal to the broadest selection of potential customers.
It’s pretty funny how angry some gamers get when you tell them you pirate. Like, we make fun of online leftists for having parasocial relationships, but gamers take it to a whole new level. Especially funny if they want to protect Nintendo, given how aggressive they are about protecting their IP from fan-creations.
