Russian army backed by a powerful defence industry and a robust economy will not hesitate to confront NATO member countries bordering Ukraine

This reeks of propaganda. The world is aware of an estimated 200,000 dead (I was wrong, according to news sources. The number of VERIFIABLE dead is between 50,000-100,000. The estimated total dead Russians in Ukraine is still roughly 200,000.), and at least $100 million in war related imports from China. Both were on the front page of Lemmy in the last week.

Looks like OP is an astroturfer. Check their post history.

The BBC article you’re referring to puts the number of confirmed dead at over 100,000: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65451487

NPR 47,000: https://www.npr.org/2023/07/14/1187847548/how-many-russians-have-died-in-ukraine-new-data-estimates-soldier-casualties

Wikipedia 214,000: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Russo-Ukrainian_War

“US intelligence documentation cited the Russian FSB that Russian forces suffered 110,000 casualties by 28 February 2023.”

The Wikipedia article is well sourced. I suggest anyone looking for the truth sift through their 395 citations for the proof. You can downvote all you want. Idgaf about Internet points.

Do you know how we know OP is using a botnet? We can see the same users following him around the site and voting everything he says, even when he’s been definitively proven wrong by 5 news sources. It’s really amazing that he’s still trying to push this nonsense.

To the obvious troll below: if your internet allows you to click those links, you shouldn’t do it on your work computer or they’ll have you in Ukraine with nothing but a suicide grenade or mining salt in the Urals by the end of the day. Slava Ukraini.

Being forced to shake hands with the representation of the people committing war crimes against your family and nation is an awful standard.

“Okay, we know he raped you, but it’s been 17 months. Just get over it and shake his hand.”

Seems there should be a new voting system. Up and down for agree/disagree, and flags for inappropriate content that doesn’t require explanation and submitting a report. Submitting too many flags that turn out to be nothing mutes the user.

That’s a nice thought but you know already, from the post you created being downvoted, that system does not work. The basis of your argument is that people will follow the rules, which as a mod you know doesn’t happen. I offered a solution, and you offered to just carry on the same way. The real issue is we do not have separate “agree/disagree” and “relevant/not relevant” distinctions.

You don’t have to take my solution, but you must accept that your solution is already not working.

Don’t feed the troll. He’s an actual professional troll who will try his hardest to drag you into a debate. I like to just keep editing my comments with new links that refute his claims, and that’s when he totally loses it and gives me -30 and himself +55 updoots on a post with a grand total of 18 votes. He’s really aggressive but he’s not very good at his job.

Edit: I can see he has gone through my post history and downvoted everything so I have 0 or negative karma or whatever it’s called… and he did it a week afterwards. He’s a spiteful little troll, isn’t he? I don’t care about updoots. You can’t silence the truth, you dumb fuck.

I agree with everything you’re saying, but one thing: the US imports more from Canada and Mexico because labor land and shipping costs less than production in China

I guess I fail to see the point. There is no person on Lemmy who only uses items native to their country, especially electronics. Criticize whoever you want, but realize the designs and money for the products are almost always coming from a different place as the manufacturing. If your labor is cheap, you don’t attract the best and brightest because those scientists and engineers expect to be paid well. If you attract the best and brightest, cheap labor can’t afford to live near them

Didn’t the trade wars already start under Trump, and then get intensified under Biden with the CHIPS act/restricting microprocessor imports to China? China retaliated by restricting microprocessor raw materials to the US and Chinese companies ordered 5 billion USD in microprocessors

Wait a minute… Who invaded Ukraine in 2014, and again in 2021? Who illegally annexed sovereign territory? America is not blameless, but in this war they are just the arms dealer
