Ah yes, the other thing that very easily makes me fuel my grudge against the USSR, the complete and utter revision of the 1956 uprising in Hungary based on one book written by an american and the fucking independent article where the second part of the quote (“But he added: “There is no evidence that this was specifically sparked by MI6 because there was another series of events””) is ALWAYS cut out for some reason.

Yes, because they want to believe it. It confirms their prejudices about muslims and aligns with the goals of western politicians/media (as in wanting to see palestinians and all muslims eradicated). After this i am fairly sure about this. Like, this would be a non-story if one of the participants weren’t the supporters of an Israeli team. Like its a monthly, if not weekly occurrence in Europe that fans of a football team go fuck shit up in another city and then get hunted down. It was known that Maccabi fans fucked shit up on wednesday. Like, the information was available. Yet, western politicians and media CHOSE to ignore it and go with the “pogrom” line. This is absolutely, 100% deliberate.

Probably in the minority with this one, my “grudge” originates from reading this: https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/the-anarchist-faq-editorial-collective-an-anarchist-faq-full#toc562

And while it’s much more toned down since then, it is still present as what you describe as “You have to be extremely angry about it and treat anyone who doesn’t disavow them as though they’re literally going to kill you.” - which from my perspective is more like that the leaders of the USSR tended to resort to abuse of power in order to hold power and MLs are very vehement about the fact that these were no big deals or even were completely necessary to keep the project going, while, coming from anarchist circles, from my perspective these events change the nature of the project itself. This is mostly why i can relate to trots more - they are not afraid to call out what they perceive as self-serving use of power as mistakes, or even crimes.

Yeah actually i think i misunderstood OP a bit now. I was thinking he was doing the “muh anarkiddies never do revolutions that last longer than 2 months” bit.

Their impact on the world is not simply in how long they were around.

Yeah i did, to show how absurd it is to judge leftist projects merely by their longevity.

Whenever someone calls me “campist” i just note to myself that they are in the opposing camp.

The USSR isn’t around.

I agree the zine is bs but if you are actually serious about wanting a left unity with anarchists, stop the dick measuring contest. The two isn’t even measuring success by the same standards.
