here’s the thing about foss bullshit. it’s actually good if you approach it from a communist lens instead of the quasi libertarian liberalism it’s usually depicted as. it’s not a revolutionary project by any stretch but it’s a fairly decent starting point for what intellectual commodities might look like outside of capitalism–the fact that most foss support comes from big companies, basically creating a set of shared libraries they can all use without copying each other’s work, is actually a pretty remarkable thing! imagine if this heroic computing effort was put in service of the people as a whole as opposed to writing adware
