I want to sympathize with the protestors in Iran but Reddit has already started to act as though the exiled shah will lead the next regime.
I don’t think that’s the problem per se, liberals just don’t like to admit that fascism is a logical end point of their system and the successful stunting of socialism. That’s why they pretend that it is an aberration and that the imperialist viewpoints of cultural figures are simply misappropriations.
(I could also go into how people who dislike intersectionality tend to ignore the chauvinistic processualism of the old left but that’s another topic)
Nietzsche was pro slavery and Wagner latched onto the protofascist tendencies that existed within lowercase s socialism at the time. The nazis did not have to do much to absorb their legacies, we just choose to ignore this because nobody teaches people about European sympathies for the confederacy or the racialism that existed in Germany before the nazis rose up.
