Just made a new account. I used to be really active here in the earlier days of the site launch. My personal life was falling apart (mental health and sobriety) right around the time of the /r/vegancj debacle and I decided I needed to leave to focus on myself. I really have no clue about how long ago that was. In the last month or so I have finally been getting back into geopolitics and I really felt myself missing this place. I popped back in today to sus out the vibe and, as absolutely cheesy as it sounds, I realized just how much I missed the sense of community here. Figured I should make a new account since my old one had way too many personal details about myself anyway lol.

So anyway, what’s new libs? Anyone wanna explain to me any memed strugglesessions that I might have missed out on?

Also: I guess it must be fate, I didn’t realize today is hb’s birthday!

I was one of the people who left during the vcj struggle session and I just came back today with a new account! It’s good to hear that things have been more stable since then. Were there any big rules changes made in the aftermath to avoid similar problems in the future? I left before things got sorted out.

Also I should add that I finally decided to stop being a lib and have Kapital and the Manifesto currently waiting for me to be picked up at the library. Also gonna pick up Manufacturing Consent.

As I mentioned below, I’m back on a new account after a long hiatus since vcjgate. I have a few questions I wanna fire off:

1. Has the site developed any bookclubs?
2. What has membership growth been like since vcjgate?
3. If/how has site policy/rules changed since vcjgate? I do NOT want to reopen this strugglesession, I’m just wondering if there were any big decisions made to avoid similar things from happening in the future.

I am very interested because it caused me enough stress to abandon the site. I don’t actually care to discuss the struggle session itself, I’m just wondering what things have been like since I’ve been gone.

Edit: To add to this, I can definitely understand your suspicion. I am aware that bad actors on new accounts try to reopen discussion on struggle sessions. That’s not my intention, and I don’t intend to ask any more questions about it beyond what I posted in this thread.

Better to have slow growth than growth due to misaligned communities coming in and affecting the culture. Just my opinion anyway. Communities typically go through fluctuations of growth and stagnation anyway. The fact that this place is still around 2 years later is honestly impressive as hell.

Yeah, I remember they were really spearheading the neurodiverse comm and wrote so many great effortposts. I hope they are just taking a break and will return.
