A lot of people are going to be angry about this, but not me. I’m just smiling quietly. This is yet another step along the long road to balkanization and an eventual second civil war. Murka’s doing down, folks. It’ll be a while, though. Another 20 years or so of this and it will be ready to break.
Wait for the tat to this tit, where California or New York issues a declaration that nazis are not welcome and will be met with open hostility and violence. Then that orange on a Florida license plate will be toxic and result in the drivers being pulled out and beaten up…and then a tit for that tat, and so on and so forth. This has happened before in many other countries and the script is being followed correctly.
“Why would anyone do drugs when all you have to do is mow a lawn?”
:Hank-Hill:
Yeah, the rationale was “hire every talent you can get, you’ll need them someday. If not, at least you’re starving the competition of good people by hoarding them.” This resulted in the infamous “adult daycare center” video where the lady brags about how great her day is at Twitter and shows off all the amenities like yoga classes, espresso machine in the employee lounge, the rooftop wine bar, etc. It got all these chuds to scream “but you didn’t do any actual work!” It was a wonderful moment. Well, at least before Elon took over and burned the place down.
But educated professionals don’t want to live next to the poors! Their peers might get them confused together!
You’ve got to live in a respectable ZIP code. Look it up on Zillow and it’s got to have the right demographics. Fail this test, and get a low score the next time you have to pass through the HR gauntlet. Like attracts like. Top tech talents don’t eat breakfast at the Waffle House.
Man, I just can’t watch 4 hour podcasts. Can anyone? That’s a quarter of your waking day. Who has that kind of time?
I wish political podcasters would make short, digestible segments instead of these impossible mountains. Even if I listened for an hour a day it would take 4 days to finish, and who says it would be worthwhile anyway? Give me a 10 minute podcast, I’ve got ten minutes.
This is something I’ve spent time thinking about. People’s lives are so awful that having their every action run by an inescapable AI overlord wouldn’t just be an improvement, it would be a VAST VAST improvement for about 90% of humanity.
Some of us can run our lives quite well, but damn there are people out there who are just bad at doing anything. Things like, “keep your living space clean”, “make sure your children get enough to eat”, “don’t run the air conditioner with the windows open”, that kind of thing. Holy crap the internet let us peer into their lives and oh my god they are terrifying. I just picked up a portable ice maker from someone who left town and didn’t want to pack it. The basin was slimy so I started washing it. There were lots of parts I couldn’t clean so i had to take a screwdriver and take it apart. After making good progress and cleaning out several slimy inaccessible parts, i pried up a small circuit board. Four small live cockroaches were there, snug as a bug. I had to fetch the roach spray to get them all. Then I was like, where there is one there will be more. So I took off the front cover because I wanted to get to the water return anyway. I can see roach droppings and one more inside. So I hose it out with bug spray, and there are two. Then I check the water return line. It was FILTHY. Black mold all inside it, going into the unit. That was it, I noped out of there right then. Put all the parts into a big trash bag and took it straight to the dumpster. I don’t want any roach paratroopers exiting the Trojan horse and colonizing my kitchen. Thank God I did it right away and didn’t let it sit around, they would have gotten a foothold for sure. The really scary part is that the night before was their going-away party and that thing was on the counter getting filled with ice. Good thing I had beer. shudder
What’s the deal with that “gnostic” thing? That word has been everywhere lately. AFAIK it’s some early heresy of Christianity, what the hell has it got to do with Marxism?
