Farmers have huge stocks of grain supplies but if the war continues then we’ll likely pay a premium for wheat supplies that would normally be used for feed. Any shortage of cereals are conditions for famine.

Landlords have an incredible amount of power because there isn’t enough housing. Doing these half measures to add regulatory requirements do nothing to diminish their power and they pass on these costs directly to renters. The critics of rent control fall into the same trap, it’s just too hard to effectively regulate them.

They’ll just plug it for the EU market and tell them to use wireless charging, which has no regulation.

That’s probably the most minor provision in the suite of “national security” bills passed in the wake of 9/11.

When I was a kid I had to grind 10 hours a day for runescape gold to sell on the black market just so I could buy pokemon cards. But back then 1m gold went for $1 and you could spend the whole day at the mall fishing change out of the water fountain.

Having worked in the space, yes they don’t want to spend more money on policing content. However, their advertisers put pressure on them to classify and remove content so their ads aren’t displayed near something that could paint them in a bad light. Also most videos on youtube don’t generate very much revenue so they want more control over deleting them if someone complains. Politicians are itching to regulate them so they are treading lightly right now.

Politicians have been attacking social media platforms for removing content. Google can now point to this ruling and say they are justified in doing it.
