The people in my field who still work work aren’t working because they have to, they’re working because they want to, similar to Nancy Pelosi. People on my team and ones I work with from other firms make well over 500k a year and have had enough money to retire for decades.

I’d almost guarantee there’s more to this story.

Off topic here but from the looks of it Lemmy requires a serious amount of time and work. Is the development team working on this full time in lieu of a full time programming job? Or is a passion project in addition to your real live duties?
