Probably the most suggested ones and one hidden gem: uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, HTTPS Everywhere, and AdNauseum

Other than The Conquest of Bread , I have not delved into much AnCom theory. I have been suggested Now and After: The ABC of Communist Anarchism but I haven’t gotten around to it yet.

I’m sure I’m not alone or unique in my response but the night that the 2016 election results were coming in, I had a thousand-yard stare pointed at the TV but I could not hear anything. My liberal brain at the time just broke and could not fathom how someone like Trump could rise to power. Being the nerd I am, this naturally resulted in me asking questions and researching answers. Eventually, I started listening to political podcasts to try and just get started with wrapping my head around what I should be paying attention to. Eventually, I came across the Chapo subreddit. Since I like dark humor, it was a good mix of laughing the pain away while still being somewhat informed. Then, I listened to ChapoTrapHouse for a while and slowly started learning about more leftist history and media criticism (BASED Citations Needed shout-out) through related podcasts. Now, I don’t listen to ChapoTrapHouse at all; mostly, and this is on rotation: Beau of the Fifth Column, Bad Empanada, Citations Needed, and the GameGrumps (I like feeling like a kid sometimes, leave me alone).

I don’t mean to be be a bother but do you mind elaborating on this? I was born and raised in CA but this is the first time I’ve heard of this. If not, could you point me in the right direction?

Oh, I think I got my reds confused. I thought you meant cool Commie reds, not gross GOP reds. My bad! I did learn something, though: I didn’t know it was illegal for a Communist to hold public office in CA 😬 :angery:

This is the kind of discussion I was looking for! At first when I saw this dumb flyer, I laughed it off and threw it away. Then when I actually started reading the props I was like, “Wait a damn minute, cops can’t have good takes,” and checked it again.

Mad props to you for at least trying, man. I wish I could unionize my workplace but there is only 10 of us and all of them minus the 2 managers watch Fox News on the daily… and they aren’t even old. Shit’s sad. And don’t fret about labels, we’re all leftists in some sense. I think I’m an anarcho-communist.

To drive that last point home: if corporations were to all switch to a grass-fed model, we would literally not have enough land to support it. And guess who would be the first ones to have their lands seized? Indigenous populations and/or the poor, without a doubt in my mind.

I’m not trying to tell anyone what to do but I think a trigger warning might be appreciated prior to watching the documentary. There were a few gut wrenching scenes in there that I would say are burned into my mind now and I consider myself someone with a high tolerance for shit like that.
