Its baffling to me that chapo communities are nearly entirely ML edgelords. The chapo crew never suck off and worship Chinese Style ‘Communism’, but for some reason seemingly all online chapo communities are based around this principle.

I used to work for a non profit helping the homeless that had a logo very obviously looking like a vulva and clit.

Seeing as how the org started decades ago aimed at just women, and actually caught some heat in the press for giving out lingerie to homeless and poor women, part of me thought this might be intentional.

But then I actually met the person in charge of brand and theming and logos and immediately realized they were an out of touch overpaid moron who had no idea how the org actually worked, what it did or how the employees felt about anything, so I went back to assuming the new redesign was unintentional.

Never took any of my advice relating to my decade of experience in the tech industry, never listened to what i was saying about econ or poli sci until a youtuber he watches told him about it, despite my degrees in econ and poli sci. And then he would either gaslight me and tell him that i did not actually tell him what i told him 6 months ago, or he would have a depressive breakdown and need my forgiveness and support everyday for 2 months.

I have also found PopOS! to be a fantastic distro. Easy to setup, user friendly, has tons of software that works with it , great UI, and I have not had a main OS patch/update break anything since I think 3 years ago now.

And it also does not punish you too hard if you tinker under the hood a bit!

Only real room for improvement is the PopShop, but thats relatively easy to fix, so I do think it makes more sense for them to focus harder on general stability, compatibility, and the new Rust based DE.

You can always install synaptic or the debian software manager for deb based stuff, and a flatpak store if you get tired of the PopShop and want to stick with PopOS’s deb/flatpak paradigm.
