He’s trying to do the “Oh you’re calling me a fascist instead of debating my ideas?” thing, but this is quite literally one of the most fascist ideas to ooze out of the mainstream right in quite a while. Starship Troopers conservatism.

Somehow calling someone fascist for their ideas doesn’t count as an argument against the ideas is one of the weirdest brain genius thoughts. Fascism is bad and they’re pointing out you’re being one, that’s a fucking argument
