Telegram has voice chats now and Discord is just terrible privacy wise.

Are you aware of Telegram’s many features? You can use that to entice them.

Like what? The 1.5gb file transfer seems nice, but I couldn’t find anything else of note.

There are bots, piracy, unlimited storage, all the stickers and saving messages… some of the features off the top of my head. Plus it’s native to every platform thus resource efficient and well designed.

Yeah, it’s just thats not really a selling point to someone on discord, aside from the file transfer.

I’ve made a couple discord bots and it’s got a solid api. Discord runs natively just fine on arch linux for me as well.

for a lot of people, nothing is more enticing than doing nothing :( 90% of my communication with friends is on a FB service (other 10% on snapchat)

I’m kinda talking out of experience too… I got friends to use Firefox on Android by telling them it supports uBlock Origin and got them to install F-Droid so that they can use NewPipe (a FOSS app that lets you watch Youtube without ads among other things) Also got a couple of them who use Facebook to try Frost out or Barinsta for Instagram… sometimes you don’t even need to mention privacy, you know?
