How have people’s experiences been with getting a book/textbook to do independent study with a language? Pronunciation’s tricky I imagine. But it might be good thing to try, espescially if the book is pirated

You should read into the Refold method. I’ve been meaning to try it, but I watched a bunch of videos on the reasoning behind it and as someone who has done a lot of language studying in school and on my own it seems solid. The main point is that traditional methods (studying from a book, vocab and grammer drills) are not enough by themselves and should be accompanied with active immersion in media in your target language from the very beginning (since most people see immersion as like a capstone after years of study)
