super fun fact, i worked for bass pro right around when they were buying that thing, and like the week after they bought it they completely eliminated three managerial positions at once. to clarify, at every single store, they eliminated three management positions, all at once, when they came into work one morning. they came in and then they left. that was the day i was putting in my notice (one of my coworkers – and the guy that should have been manager, but in that moment was almost certainly glad he hadn’t been – genuinely deserved the notice), so i didn’t care. but all the middling age adults and older twenty-somethings were all spooked until i left.
