I recently went through an interactive documentary where in the 70s. a guy created an independent organisation free of foreign national control on a platform in the middle of the ocean, but it got attacked by this former CIA strike unit, and they slaughtered basically everyone there. Apparently, he tried again about 10 years later off the coast of the Seychelles, but it turned out it was actually some other guy acting as a body double, and then they moved all the stuff from the Seychelles to South Africa some time around 1990, and then a clone of the first guy killed the body double. Super confusing.
I guess the whole point of what I’m getting at is, you could probably take over a platform, and then just… y’know, build a nuclear weapon or a giant bipedal tank of some sort. That’d probably be a suitable deterrent.
