I was able to use one of those “free reverse phone number lookup services” to figure out who was harassing me back in like 2010. The owner’s name was associated with the number and I found out by checking facebook that it was the father of a friend of a recent ex (she must have borrowed his phone or it was bought for her in his name). Once I dropped their name in a text they stopped harassing.
The only problem is that I have tried to use services like this since then, but as far as I can tell every single one of them is either a dubious paid service with no guarantee of info, simply has no info, or is a click-farming website of some kind. I would be interested to know if any other people here are familiar with any that actually work.
