I didn’t even remember the date it happened until I saw the tweet. Americans probably don’t even know December 7th either.
I didn’t understand what “1/6 Commission” meant until I read this comment. They were hammering home the date as hard as they could during the hearings at the start of the year, but I still can’t remember the date consistently.
its kind of funny. the whitehouse was literally burned down before and i dont even think i learned about it in school, but i think theyre gonna try to make this a a huge spectacle for awhile
It was also not the first time the Capitol was attacked (not sure if that’s the correct thing to call that day). Some very cool Puerto Rican nationalists shot a bunch of congresspeople in it in 1954. Can’t tell kids about that though because then they might wonder why the brown people didn’t like America.
