Best way to go about it is to get a resume together that looks alright via a few low paying gigs, never ever work for free, and then apply constantly on job boards. /R/forhire got me a lot of gigs starting out and /r/hireawriter once I had a better resume and felt confident applying for higher paying gigs.
Local work is even better, but you generally have to know someone to be able to get in.
This is a full time job and takes up a ton of mental thought and I have mental breakdowns from it from time to time but it does pay decently once you’re in.
