As former restaurant staff, I enjoy Kitchen Nightmares because almost without fail at some point Gordon will scream at the restaurant owner for either disrespecting or not listening to their restaurant staff (or both) and these small business tyrants who have never had to speak respectfully to anyone have to just sit there and take it.

Gordon usually yells at the right people for the right reasons on kitchen nightmare.

This is generally true, but dipshit grinders don’t realize this and somehow use it to justify yelling at their staff. Actually a lot if it probably comes from Hells Kitchen which is obviously a reality gameshow so who cares, but people still fail to analyze it that closely a lot of the time anyway.

The waitstaff that throw the management under the bus are the true heroes of that show.

Yeah we always look them up after the episode.

Part of it is how far gone they are by the time they ask for help I’m sure, but it’s also obvious that these kulaks are incapable of tamping down on their narcissism long enough to listen to constructive criticism.

A lot of it also comes from the fancy french cooking world, which I think was basically organized in a military fashion, with all the abuse and ladder climbing that entails. That fucked up military mindset informs a lot of kitchen culture
