"The research found “an almost complete loss of stability over the last century” of the currents that researchers call the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC). The currents are already at their slowest point in at least 1,600 years, but the new analysis shows they may be nearing a shutdown.
Such an event would have catastrophic consequences around the world, severely disrupting the rains that billions of people depend on for food in India, South America and West Africa; increasing storms and lowering temperatures in Europe; and pushing up the sea level off eastern North America. It would also further endanger the Amazon rainforest and Antarctic ice sheets."
I always thought the Yukon would be a nice place to live. Maybe the frigid, wind swept tundras of Champagne would be a nice place to live
I always thought i should buy land in the yukon while it’s cheap because it will be as fertile as Nebraska in 50 years when it’s time to retire and i can probably sell it for enough to retire on…… cash in on climate change i guess… i don’t know. I didn’t do it anyway because i have always been poor.
I’ve had visions of buying land, living in rural communities composed of a large amount of POC (and some based white socialists), and earning a living in the meantime through various agropastoral work.
This is important because:
-
climate change in general
-
collapse of civilization is critical for POCs because they all live in cities/suburbs, which are extremely overpopulated. Throughout history, people in the cities always die quickly whenever Sumer/Babylon/Rome/other flavor-of-the-millenium collapses.
anyway, pm me if you vibe with this. This is an area that is ripe for social media exploitation, I saw a Black homestead video a few months ago posted on some white farming channel. It was their third most viewed video, and the comments were full of ecstatic Black people. And of course the usual chuds who were unhappy that they were happy for the “wrong reasons”
