Maybe boiling babies alive wasn’t the correct path towards communism?
Revolution is done through tactics and strategy. Excesses is a justification after the fact. The Chinese civil war and the Russian civil war are full of examples where they murdered people ‘for no reason’. It can only be criticized through whether they accomplished their objectives or not. I am happy to point out the flaws within the Peruvian revolution, but the discourse that has spawned after his death shows that even ‘critical support’ is dead.
I’m gonna be real with you chief, I aint dealing with anyone who goes around calling mass revenge tortures of entire villages “excesses”.
War can indeed be messy, but comparing the Russian and Chinese civil wars to marching into a village and slaughtering everyone inside it to sent a message about how you shouldnt be fucked with is ludicrus, its just cartel shit and terrorist tactics.
I won’t, because I understand the differences between the two situations, Shining Path essentially used individualist terrorism.
