Liberals are institutionalists, they believe the infallibility of government and institutions even as those institutions drastically change or immiserate. They’ll cling to their love of institutions even as those institutions crush them. You’re right about the baby thing, there’s something infantile about their need believe in institutions. It’s like institutions have replaced their parents.
