What made you think out of the box? Why aren’t you a Mormon anymore? What do you think makes you special (Why aren’t you a Mormon anymore; as opposed to your neighbour)?

Great question. This is something my friends and I have talked about a lot. A million other people grew up in the same conditions but never became atheists, so why me? Personally I think it’s intellectual curiosity. Mormons are raised to obey power structures uncritically (this is one of the reasons why they make such good CIA piggies), so if they come across something that contradicts their leaders or worldview, they turn their brains off. When I came across info like that I just wanted to learn more, which led me here.

What was you discovery route? Surely you didn’t jump immediately from Mormon to CTH/hexbear.

Questioning my religion shattered my idea of what was and wasn’t true. This led to my questioning American chauvinism and then capitalism, both of which seemed as certain as the tides before I became an atheist. This took several years, but I got there eventually!
