:cat-vibing: Proud of everyone :gold-communist: :stalin-heart:
There was a genuine loss when a lot of the activist crowd nope’d out. But I do think the culture the site has developed has made it less toxic and therefore easier to interact with. One avenue that could probably still use some attention is new users who don’t “get” the site yet. We’ve had a few people get bullied as wreckers who ended up sticking around and actually understanding. This argument is almost always used by trolls to muddy the waters, but we’ve undoubtedly also bullied off a couple new users who just felt entitled to be dicks about whatever rift they noticed because they’re not used to existing in communities online where people recognize each other
i think one thing that would be really helpful for the site is some facility for temp bans to let people cool off if they get overheated on some bullshit and to let new users (the ones who arent just obvious wreckers) know that some of the reddit shit doesnt fly here and give them a second chance to try and integrate. like yeah they could just make a new account but i imagine most would just move on
i realise our beautiful mods and devs already have a lot of shit on their plates though and its already a great site
everybody who cares enough to leave over something … is gone
this seems like not a good thing
There’s no way for a single community of this size to accommodate absolutely everyone and not everyone is equally deserving of accommodation. I am absolutely someone who cares enough to leave a community I’m invested in because of some internal conflicts that I see as immoral or untenable. I’ve done it dozens of times over the past couple decades. This community is just one that I don’t feel a need to leave because it’s been run decently, especially as of recently, and it has a lot of cool posters.
I dunno about that - would someone who “cares more” about [leftist thing] really leave here and go to :reddit-logo: instead?
