Basically this.

Personally, for me, it’s been one of those things in the back of my mind that always seemed intimidating as a dork that enjoys board games. Chess hits that sweet spot of easy to learn the basics, but insanely deep to learn.

The Beth Harmon smoking and drinking hour also got me interested in playing.

i usually hate board games because I get antsy but chess can be quick and enjoyed in small spurts.
