I mean, “American Girl” was a thing back in the 90s. And “Little House on the Prairie” goes straight back to the 70s.
“Cottagecore” is just a new spin on an old fad. And its always been consumerist aesthetic first and foremost, playing on the myth of Rugged Individualism that forms the bedrock of American ideology.
