Never understand the appeal of these toys. They’re not even cool resin statues of like anime characters that look good. It’s just a dead-eyed doll that sits in it’s box.

I don’t think so. I’ve never seen someone claim that they appreciate in value like Beanie Babies were supposed to. I think some people just need something to spend money on and the video-game-conditioned collectathon part of their brain releases dopamine when they add to their collection.

yeah the whole point of a funko pop is to signal to others ownership or interest in a particular scene/fandom/show/etc. they are also both completely worthless and only exist to pollute the earth, the only difference being a funko pop at the very minimum has a value on the plastic and dye used. also, they both have insane resale markets that are speculative

yeah like some of the anime style ones actually just straight up look like the character but in 3d, which is impressive considering the different artistic mediums. funkopops and beanie babies are just the inevitable consequence of capitalism. making something realistic is too hard, how about we make something simple and cheap to reproduce instead that bares a vague resemblance and sell it at high prices?
