According to her Wiki page, she felt that the “political climate” at the time wouldn’t have allowed Democrats to appoint a “like-minded jurist.” Which is bullshit, considering they controlled the Senate at the time, and could have rammed a confirmation through with minimal effort. If they weren’t controlled opposition, anyway. But I digress.
