What exactly would they lose that the supreme court couldn’t rule that they actually didn’t lose. The election, which was already going to be decided by the supreme court, is going to now 100% go to Trump rather than there being the chance that the Bushs call in a favor and Roberts decides it goes to Biden.

It’s because the Bush’s want to take the Republican party back from the populists.
They’re absolutely still Republicans, they definitely want a conservative supreme court and foreign policy, but if Trump wins a second term the party becomes his in a less recapturable way.
