He was there an hour early for dinner and when they told him to come back later, he reached for an already prepared brown bag of food so they shot him.

They said the “volunteers are encouraged to protect the property” as they have no formal security.

Update: “there was no altercation per se, just a lot of arguing” and they murdered him for it

What the fuck property are they protecting? almost-expired food and an old Macbook?

I’ve volunteered in food banks since before I became a leftist, I’m telling you that there is nothing in any nonprofit that is worth defending with a gun.

There is no property that is worth defending with a gun. People working at a fuckin soup kitchen should especially realize that.

Depends on the nonprofit, I’ve worked for a couple that were basically grifts. Plenty of over paid admin staff with a lot of company equipment and cars. That said, all those people deserve the wall regardless, and stealing from them would be praxis

“The bread you store up belongs to the hungry; the cloak that lies in your chest belongs to the naked; the gold you have hidden in the ground belongs to the poor.”

It’s not even their property, it’s his.

Defending private property is just a dogwhistle for murdering someone at this point. If there ever was any mask, it’s long gone now.
