I have toyed with the idea that there are technologically advanced eusocial aliens that are aware of humanity’s existence, but they don’t wish to contact us because they are individually dumber creatures and fear manipulation and destruction by humans who can quickly comprehend and game their social order for genocidal or antisocial ends.
