There’s a surprising depth of personality to them in my experience. King snakes and pythons are both affectionate beyond seeking warmth. I’d go for a lizard though, either a bearded dragon or uromastyx. There’s more personality to them.

I got to hold a friend’s pet snake once and it was very smooth and nice. Also I like when people post pictures of their snakes wearing tiny hats
