I am seeing that too, a growing number of people just want a good both sides take and leave it at that. I can understand but it is also not realy going to achieve anything novel because both sides being bad is already quite obvious.

Nobody is questioning that Putin is a capitalist pig, but the real conundrum of what to actually do when the US leaves you no choice is just heading straight up against the massive wall that is western leftists idealism, oh and there is a lot of idealism out there it turns out.

God am I glad to be skeptical of claims of AES being relevant to China. It makes it so much easier to not fall for false-choices that ask us to make fools of ourselves critically supporting people who would butcher us all given a chance.
