Is chernobyl just a general name for the area where the reactor was located?

It’s the name of the city where the power plant is located. It still has a skeleton staff of administrative workers and engineers. The famous imagery of the place like the ferris wheel are all of Pripyat, one of the planned cities for workers at the plants.
