All of our nuclear waste can be stacked on a football sized field with little issue. This was sold as a ‘bad thing’ for a country of 330 million people. Imagine if we could stack all the carbon in the atmosphere from our electric grid, the fact that its not air is fantastic. And its not like solar or wind don’t produce waste. Solar has a lot of electronic waste, whereas wind still uses oil for the fan blades. Not to mention, both of those techs are highly dependent on battery tech which is highly caustic (and even radioactive sometimes!) and can really fuck with the environment. Regardless, in our giant country we can legit just stack all of our nuclear waste in a couple of secure locations and that is way better than having millions of points of possible pollution.

Beside the point, the USA doesnt invest in recycling fuel (fun fact: nuclear ‘waste’ is still able to produce a fuckton of energy if you use it right). In fact, most reactors even in the USA recycle fuel by accident because its hard to get all of the waste out so it just ends up producing energy anyways. China, however, is building nuclear recyclers as we speak, as well as using various innovative methods to ensure that any radioactive material is in a solid containable form, not liquid or otherwise.

Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember… we’re all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --
