Seems to me like if would have been pretty fucking hard to see that kinda dancing in “China before communism” when 97.7% of women had bound feet prior to the May 4th Movement

Women’s dance was basically extinct in the Qing Dynasty, aside from peasant dances and those performed by sex workers. So I don’t know what the fuck they’re doing, but it’s at best HIP or folk revival and at worst made up orientalist nonsense.
