I play this game every couple years. Formative and nostalgic but I think even that aside it holds up so well as a story progression. So much fun. Love this fucker.

I think it would. The main gameplay holds up in a “simple but well executed” sort of way, and the story has the slightly irreverent tone that the Paper Mario series would adopt that works really well with this type of game.
