I joined chapo.chat from the discord. I was hopeful that we would be able to bring back some of what the chapo reddit was, a fun place for shitposting and I dunno, maybe praxis? What I see here is just all of the most hardcore people from chapo saying that eveyone who isn’t on chapo.chat sucks. We don’t have nearly the numbers for that to be a sustainable strategy. Right now, the hot feed is very “not fun”. Lots of recrimination of people. A weird amount of fighting about china, and not nearly enough pig poop balls. That is all.
Growing pains. Once this place stops being brigaded, it’ll start to get a community and culture of its own. I’m hoping it’ll be similar to, but improved from, the sub. I wouldn’t want it to be identical. Hopefully we can get some people in here who instinctively hate reddit because it’s a hive of reaction, but who are cool leftists who will be enjoyable to post with.
Yeah. but this is also a critical period. If people come here because it is linked on r/trueanon or whatever and they see it isn’t fun they will leave imediately. Thats the direction I think it is going. How much moderation is there? Clearing the brigading posts quickly seems like it is critical.
There’s that, which I think the devs are aware of, and iirc they are also planning tweaking the hot algorithm so that the FP isn’t always full of struggle sessions
