Celebs in ads promoting a product (or service) are most assuredly backing it.

Are they really though? They are getting paid for their image, not their actual support. Its not like Larry David is going on the news and pushing crypto.

Edit: I’m not saying this to defend any of these rich fucks either, it just seems like the blame should primarily fall on the companies who push crypto, and the news networks that legitimize it. This image has big “Lebron James CCP shill energy”

yes, that is literally what appearing in advertisements means. if you want to get into his motivations, and how he’s only doing it for financial reasoning, that is a better argument, but yes, he does indeed endorse every insurance company that pays him to do so.

Shaq’s actually a weird exception to most celebrities in that he only does endorsement deals for products/services he likes. It’s why he does ads for the general and not allstate or whatever.

But they’re literally called endorsement deals. They’re being paid to publicly say ‘this is good shit’. Whether they honestly mean that’s irrelevant.
