I joined chapo.chat from the discord. I was hopeful that we would be able to bring back some of what the chapo reddit was, a fun place for shitposting and I dunno, maybe praxis? What I see here is just all of the most hardcore people from chapo saying that eveyone who isn’t on chapo.chat sucks. We don’t have nearly the numbers for that to be a sustainable strategy. Right now, the hot feed is very “not fun”. Lots of recrimination of people. A weird amount of fighting about china, and not nearly enough pig poop balls. That is all.
The discord has like 100 channels and even if you are 24/7 online you can’t follow all the drama. I missed that whole trans people getting banned phenomenon even though I used it a lot
I just barely caught it, and it took me a ton of research and paying attention and asking around to untangle what happened. The mods wanted to keep it on the DL which is kinda understandable since there was an impending launch, but if they thought it would “blow over” then that was a mistake. Seems like it’s sorta under control now though idk
from the update of this post: https://hexbear.net/post/3351 it becomes clear that there was a “Shork server”, so some people set up a whole 'nother discord for drama from another discord, for Christ’s sake! The mods have now said they won’t be doing anything, there was no substantial issur.
I hope this site will reduce the usage of the chapo discord because it only breeds this bullshit
