Whenever I hear about a bastard child, it’s always a son. In both history and fiction, I can’t think of a single instance of a woman born out of wedlock being referred to as a bastard. Why are all the bastards men? Where are all the bastardesses?

yeah, theres like, not a special name for it tho.

they usually married less prestigious people that royal families wanted ingratiated like generals and stuff.

why they dont get refferred to as bastard like as titles is because that only happened when a man-bastard got real powerful and everyone was pissed and name-calling—a lady-bastard’s highest hope was like, being a regent for a child and its the childs status which then mattered
