Huh the main thing I had heard of about in chilean media about his time in the summit was about him criticizing the US for excluding Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua from the summit and on a vacuum that sounded pretty based, but thats probably the media trying to paint him a a scary leftist more than anything.
Also him talking about “the capacity to absorb by itself a migratory flow” feels weird, a year ago he had more of a pro inmigration vibe going on. Inmigration, specially from Venezuela, is becoming more of a main political issue here, I have heard more than one person say “Yeah the far right will definitely win the newxt election if this venezuelan inmigrants thing keeps going”
i think he was trying to “both sides” the issue with cuba and venezuela by calling them authoritarians and saying that the USA shouldnt exclude states from the summit, but AMLO is a socdem that barely does anything and he boycotted the summit.
and that accident with the migrants and truck driver made a bunch of xenophones from the right and they used to be very pro venezuelan migrants with piñera saying they should come to chile
Yeah is more of bothsides “I Disapprove of What You Say, But I Will Defend your right to say it”
Hmm the xenophobia thing is not exclusive for the right, the “apolitical” chilean is getting more anti inmigrant. Hell I have a communist friend who doesnt like venezuelans since they the ones who come here hate socialism.
