Does anyone know what the deal is with George Gascon in LA? Conservatives are acting like he’s pretty much legalized all crime, which I assume is made up bullshit, but I also assume he’s probably a liberal. Looking him up, I can’t really find any straight information that isn’t reactionary drivel saying that he has absolutely stopped prosecuting all crime (which I know for a fact is false… obviously).
Is he good? I assume if he’s pissing of reactionaries, he can’t be all bad. There’s a big recall campaign in LA against him though
I can’t speak to him specifically but there’s a lot of amped-up backlash toward all of the reformers that got elected or appointed in the wake of George Floyd.
DSA LA says he’s part of the “anti-carceral tradition” in their primary voter guide so he’s probably not terrible, those would be the people to reach out to if you wanted a more accurate assessment of how he’s done.
