John Oliver actively creating and supporting reactionary brain worms is not part of the lib to left pipeline. It is the exact opposite. It produces reaction. Oliver watchers are the kids calling you tankie for not licking Biden’s boot and they are not easier to reach because he provided them with a liberal rationalization for solving systemic problems by voting harder, using a silly word with their other liberal friends, or equating socialism and government spending.
Nobody said anything about going from 0-100. There are so many options that aren’t actively promoting reactionary positions, I don’t even want to start enumerating them. I’ll just say that the duplicitous socialists that think they’re pipelining by using Bernie Sanders for everything are at least nearly coherent.
I don’t know why you’re repeating yourself about what our responsibility is. It seems condescending.
Oliver’s show is another instantiation of V*ush in that it redirects a recognition of systemic oppression and failures of capitalism into status quo liberalism and the laundering of reactionary positions while getting treated like a left voice. Oliver is part of the recapture of liberals who could otherwise be pipelined.
ok whatever dude you’re an obvious expert at agitprop and deprogramming liberals IRL so I will bow to your superior praxis whatever that is.
(Touch grass dude)
LWT already has a huge audience and credibility among libs, his brainworms aren’t cultivated on that show they are cultivated already in American politics and bleed into his writers’ room, Vaush is an actively toxic vitriolic person that has no content I would ever consider recommending to anyone and I think conflating the two is disingenuous.
That’s fair, but you’re basically calling me out also with the way you’re saying my suggestion to use this as agitprop is akin to recommending Vaush.
They are very much not the same and it just feels like contrarianism at this point.
I have been agitating for years and clips like this one are often a great way to get those conversations started with liberals, like I said we have to be the ones that push them further.
