One example of why it is sometimes important to step outside the “race” lens, notably in medicine. More often than not in this domain it just propagates harmful stereotypes that postpone important choices.

indian people shouldn’t be offered pain medication because it’s offensive to their religion

Reading absent-mindedly, at first I read that as “Italian people” and wondered if it meant machismo or catholicism.
