Ive yet to hear a reason for going that isn’t basically to just literally piss off the chinese.
That’s because there are no other reasons. There’s absolutely nothing that can be done by going there in person that could not be done in a fucking phone call. It’s just pure provocation.

That’s the US foreign policy playbook. The exact same thing happened in Ukraine where the US and Allies infringed upon Russian red line interests until the Russians reacted with military force. This allowed the US and NATO to paint Russia as the aggressors.
Ofc, if they pull this shit with China they’ll also have to grapple with having no manufactured goods in addition to no gas, no oil, and no fertilizer or food.
