I hate the injection of personality into technological instances or common hiccups in modern Internet culture. My heart monitor watch shows me a smiley face while booting up, Github buttons spam “Buy me a coffee!”, Reddit says shit like, “Don’t panic” when a webpage doesn’t load. Shut the fuck up and leave me alone. I am so tired of being surrounded by these pale imitations of reality, like I need to be pacified with pseudo-emotions or meme culture every step of my day.
I feel this. Also, it’s difficult because everyone has just such a different type of digital communication style or are may just be truly overwhelmed. Somebody else is this thread is on the opposite flip of the coin, " that includes not responding to a text or notification immediately. " There is so much ambiguity in digital dialogue.
I’ve started using formal conversation openers and closers with my friends just to try and restore some form of mental normalcy.
Yeah, online communication seems to be a little confusing all around. I feel like a hypocrite admitting that I find myself on the other end of my situation, not responding immediately.
You just can’t always know why someone isn’t responding, and as an anxious person I often assume I’m just annoying whoever I’m talking to. I miss talking to my friends IRL.
